Ecommerce Case-study

Role: User Research, User Interface design, Heuristic EvaluationWeb Usability

Users expect online stores to save them time to reorder or refund that perfect item that they were looking for—without going through the endless scrolling. And they expect to accomplish this in the fastest way possible. Wouldn’t it be great if their online shopping experience wasn’t another source of stress? What if we could make their online shopping experience less stressful by saving them time?

With this goal in mind, I set out to discover potential sources of stress and potential solutions. I explored three highend men’s attire e-commerce stores—namely Bonobos, Indochino and J.Hilburn—trying to find out what the experience was like. These stores share a similar business model of selling their merchandise online only despite having brick-and-mortar storefronts.  I was most intrigued by the visually appealing, modern-day design of Bonobos.

In this case study, I provide several unique UX tips especially on Search-ability that e-commerce sites could activate to help make users’ online shopping experience stress-free and more enjoyable overall.
